Sashimi Liver

Is sashimi detrimental to health?

I’m not talking about worms or parasites. I’m speaking in terms of health-related problems such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, bad for the liver/kidneys…

Assume that the fish is fresh, has been treated/flash-frozen/cleaned and is parasite-free. The only danger would be mercury in certain fish. I’m aware of the dangers of mercury from the fish.

Another way to rephrase this question: What is it about Sashimi that can cause problems like getting Hepatitus B/C, cholesterol related problems, heart disease, etc?

that is why mostly sea water fish is used! less likely to contain parasites opposed to fresh water fish and moluscs!

Do not consume more then twice a week, to avoid heavy metal over consumption, cholesterol only high in squid and octopus.

Never heard of Hepatitis b/c infections throuAashimaimi!

Got to be some of these urban myths!

There are high levels of mercury in many popular eating fish, but the assumption of human health hazard may not be appropriate. It’s just not that simple.

In fact, tunas and other fishes may also contain selenium, a substance that provides mercury protection for humans—binding up and detoxifying the mercury.

I love Sashimi!
