
Raw Food Diet – what is that exactly?
I would like to hear from people who only eat raw food. Would that include things like cheese, alcohol, Raw Fish, meat etc? What are the advantages of following this lifestyle? What are the disadvantages? I’m very curious. It would also be interesting to hear from doctors or dieticians on this.
My doctor put me on a raw food diet to deal with severe allergies. It worked so well, and I felt so good, that four years later I’m still on it!
A raw food diet is one in which the individual consumes 75% or more of their food uncooked. (not heated over 110 degrees.)
Raw foodists (with a few fringe exceptions) are vegan, and do not eat raw cheese, meat or fish. Many raw foodists drink wine, other alcoholic beverages are cooked.
They eat fruits, vegetables, juices, nuts, seeds, sprouts, and anything that can be made from a combination of these things.
The advantages are greatly improved digestion, circulation and elimination, which in turn leads to improved assimilation of nutrients, increased energy and a decrease in symptoms from chronic ailments such as allergies, skin conditions, migraines, depression, menstrual issues and digestive problems.
There really aren’t any disadvantages. If one aims to consume 75% of their food raw, that leaves plenty of wiggle room to have an occasional bowl of pasta, veggie burger, or a beer.
