Japanese Food Msg

Why is it only Chinese food?

I love Asian food- and I mean that in the sense that I love the cuisines from all over the Asian region. But my gf hates it because it always makes her really sick. Recently, I got her to try homestyle Japanese Food and Thai food and she was fine. She loved it! But when I took her to my favorite Mandarin Chinese place she got sick. The next week we tried Cantonese cuisine and it made her sick too.

What is it about Chinese food that is making her sick but not Thai or Japanese? We’ve been to Thai and Japanese places a lot and she’s still been fine. Also- it’s probably relevant that I’m sure places we go don’t serve MSG.

Anyone know?

You would need to examine the meals item by item and see if there is a particular item served at the Chinese that isn’t served at other Asian style restaurants.

At last, what every Westerner in a Japanese restaurant or market needs: the first truly comprehensive dictionary of Japanese food and ingredients. Standard dictionaries can often mislead us–with akebia for akebi, sea cucumber for namako, plum for ume. Hosking`s dictionary includes not only dishes and ingredients, everything from the delicate mitsuba leaf to the dreadful okoze fish: colorful appendices disclose such aspects of Japanese culture as the making of miso to the tea ceremony and the influence of vegetarianism. With Japanese-English and English-Japanese sections, A Dictionary of Japanese Food explains the nuances and eliminates the mysteries of Japanese food.
