Is it okay to eat tuna from the meat department?
After doing research, I read a few people that state you are only able to eat raw tuna if it is sushi-grade. I bought tuna for the meat department and made seared tuna. I’m worried now that it’s not safe.
Only the outside was cooked. It was cooked only for a minute or two and the inside isn’t.
It should be fine. Sushi Grade is what you want if you are going to be eating it raw.
The majority of Tuna is frozen anyway so it should be fine. (If you are worried about parasites)
The tuna was probably labeled as “Previously Frozen, Thawed for your convenience”.
